Linking environmentally sound private sector initiatives with community aspirations, Mwambao services help:
- To find common ground where initiatives can support livelihoods while respecting environment and culture
- To promote communication and resolve conflict over shared resources

Science
Linking marine scientific discovery and research to traditional practices, Mwambao services:
- Help to pilot new approaches or innovations in fisheries and coastal management
- Document how new technologies interface with traditional knowledge and practices
- Disseminate applied research findings, good practices and technical solutions to management challenges among a broad range of coastal management practitioners;
- Monitor the deployment and use of new technologies by communities using community film
- Facilitate participatory monitoring and data analysis

Project Management
- Jointly implement community-based natural resource management initiatives
- Support the development of the community role in Beach Management Units, Community Conserved Areas and within existing MPA governance structures
